Create a New | base | Account

This page walks you through creating a new account for | base | on base.rgherd.com using Element X (mobile) and Element Desktop / Element Web.

Heads-up: registration requires a Registration Token unless the Ops Team has issued your new account with a temporary password. New users can obtain a Registration Token from an existing user or by emailing Herd Ops at help@rgherd.com.

Quick Start

Choose the correct path before you start. Most setup issues come from the wrong server value, a used token, or creating a second account by mistake.

Server path
  • Mobile / Element X: rgherd.com
  • Desktop or web: base.rgherd.com
  • Use the exact value shown here. Do not add https:// inside the homeserver field.
Mobile and desktop use different server values. That is expected.
Registration path
  • If Ops issued you a temporary account, do not create a new one.
  • If you are creating a new account, have your Registration Token ready.
  • CAPTCHA prompts are normal. Use a strong password or passphrase.

Enable encryption backup + save your Recovery Key

After setup, enable Encryption and store your Encryption Recovery Key somewhere safe (password manager or offline).

This Recovery Key cannot be replaced. Losing it can permanently break access to encrypted history on new devices.

If you were issued a temporary account

Sign in instead of creating a new account

If Ops already provided a username + temporary password, click Sign in, then change your password immediately after logging in.

Guide Registration token What to send Ops if your token is missing, expired, used, or failing.

Registration Token

Registration is token-gated. If you don’t have a token yet, contact Ops.

What to send Ops

Make it fast for them

  • Which client: Element X or Desktop/Web
  • What step failed (and the on-screen error text)
  • If your token might be expired or already used
Tip: screenshot errors. On desktop you can use Win + Shift + S.
Ops contact

help@rgherd.com

Ops can issue a token or onboard you with a temporary account if needed.

Guide Help & Support Where to go when setup fails or you need help from Ops.

Help & Support

If you get stuck, don’t brute force it — it usually makes the token situation worse. Send Ops the error + which step you’re on.

Include: client name + step number + exact error text.
