Terms of Service

| base | is a privately operated communications platform built on the Matrix protocol. It exists to support lawful coordination, structured discussion, and community resilience.

It is not a public utility. It is not a government forum. It is not a guaranteed service. By using | base |, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Account Access & Eligibility
  • Access may be invite-only, token-based, temporarily closed, or publicly available (if announced).
  • Registration policy may change at any time.
  • Accounts are issued under the namespace: @username:rgherd.com
  • We reserve the right to approve/deny registrations, revoke tokens, suspend/deactivate accounts, freeze onboarding, or disable registration.
  • No one has an inherent right to an account.
2. Authentication & Administrative Authority

Authentication is handled through a delegated authentication service. Access is controlled through issued session tokens. Administrative authority is determined by server policy and validated token permissions.

  • Administrators may suspend/deactivate accounts, force logout sessions, reset credentials, moderate public rooms, remove users, mitigate abuse, and enforce stability.
  • Administrative authority may be granted or revoked at any time.
  • There is no guaranteed appeal process.
3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use | base | for:

  • Illegal activity
  • Threats, harassment, or targeted abuse
  • Coordinating violence
  • Hate-based intimidation
  • Infrastructure scanning or probing
  • Attempted privilege escalation
  • Automated scraping or bot abuse
  • Circumventing moderation

This applies regardless of encryption. If you attempt to destabilize the platform, access may be immediately revoked.

4. Service Availability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” There is no uptime guarantee, no SLA, and no guarantee of feature permanence.

  • The operator may modify configuration, rotate keys, invalidate sessions, freeze onboarding, or rebuild services.
  • Use of the service assumes operational flexibility.
5. Encryption & Visibility
  • Unencrypted rooms are visible to server operators.
  • Encrypted content is not readable by the server.
  • Metadata (IP address, device information, timestamps) is visible to the server.
  • Encryption protects message content; it does not protect accounts from moderation.
  • Administrators may still suspend accounts or remove users from rooms.
6. Logging & Security

We use standard infrastructure logging and security monitoring to protect stability and prevent abuse. This may include access logs, authentication logs, rate limiting, and abuse detection.

Logs are used for security and operational integrity. They are not sold.

7. Data Retention

Message retention may vary by configuration. Messages may persist indefinitely, be subject to retention windows, or expire if not synchronized. Users are responsible for maintaining their own backups where needed.

The operator does not guarantee permanent storage of messages or media.

8. Federation

Communication may be limited to accounts within the rgherd.com namespace. Federation with external servers may be enabled or disabled at operator discretion.

9. Suspension & Termination

Accounts may be suspended, deactivated, or permanently removed for violations, security risk, infrastructure abuse, or operational discretion. Upon termination, sessions may be revoked, devices logged out, and access denied.

Termination may occur without notice when required to protect infrastructure or users.
